How is chiropractic care going to help?
We recognize that headache pain can have many causes. When you come to our office, you'll find that we tackle all issues of health, because we recognize that not all of the headache pain is just coming from the neck. But much of it can be from the neck. The joints and tiny muscles of the suboccipital area, just underneath the skull where the hairline is, are home to a very densely packed bed of neurological receptors. These receptors are for carrying signals for pain and for carrying signals for movement. This is an area that is designed to be monitored very carefully for any imbalance. This is one of the areas of the body that carries much of the nervous system information to the cerebellum for coordination and balance. When there is any type of irritation to the muscles or joints to this area, you can bet that pain signals will be triggered.
In the spine, it's hard to tell where pain is coming from. Pain from the neck can feel like it's in the head. In the neck, the pain is so poorly localized that you may not be able to tell if the pain is coming from the Atlas or Axis, or if it is coming from the cranial vault. We test for this, and if the pain is coming from the neck, after a treatment, you will often instantly recognize the pain relief. For some patients, it's described as pressure to the area being removed.

We then provide a state-of-the-art spinal examination, and give our recommended action plan.
