The rib cage is designed to protect vital organs while also remaining flexible for constant breathing.
Rib pain is very common today, but it’s often overlooked. But why? When you have irritation to the front of the rib, it can be extremely painful and difficult to treat. As the cartilage portion of the rib meets the bone, compression and scratching here can cause exquisite “ice-pick” stabbing pain.
Or, if the stresses of life are tightening down on your shoulders and upper back, the rib heads can become stuck in place making your shoulder tightness even worse.
My treatment is designed to keep your ribs moving as they are designed to move. When the mechaics of your ribs are stuck, my chiropractic adjustments to the ribs make them move better. I have a technique for adjusting the rib heads that is very effective and comfortable. After you have this adjustment done to you, it helps relax the muscles in the shoulders, it keeps a good foundation for the neck, and it helps with shoulder postural alignment.
You can see how the intrinsic muscles of your spine are attached to the rib heads. If the joints of your spine do not work well, your muscles respond by tightening around the ribs and vertebrae to brace the area against further injury. Tight muscles and joints will interfere with the balance in your nervous system, creating further problems for you.
