How would you change this logo?

I threw this logo together yesterday. Obviously, I’m not a pro designer, and that’s why it looks funny. What would you change about it and why?
This will be used on my letterhead, business cards, website, etc.

Thanks Dr. Ned. I listened to a few of your podcasts, by the way, and I think you are doing a wonderful job. I need to watch some of your youtube videos to get some ideas.
