Tic Toc Talk: The IQ brain clock

old style metronome, useful for brain development
Tic Toc Talk: The IQ brain clock.
I recently stumbled accross an interesting blog linked from an email from Interactive Metronome.
This blog talks about neuroscience, and importantly, the application of neuroscience with changes in the brain. One important tool that they use is a metronome. Do you remember what a metronome is? A metronome is a time keeper for musicians. It’s got a sliding weight on a post that alters the intervals between clicks as it tick-tocks back and forth.
When using a metronome for brain recovery or development, you time a body movement with the tick-tock of the metronome, careful not to break rhythm or concentration. Read Kevin McGrew’s blog for more information if you are interested in this science.
In a related note, chiropractic manipulation of the spine or extremities has been shown to alter the frequency of firing of the brain, brainstem or cerebellum. Certain neurological tests can be done before and after a chiropractic adjustment showing instant changes, and long term changes over the course of care. If you are in St. George, UT, our office can be a helpful resource for more informaiton.

Good to know that the metronome is good for something other than driving my daughter crazy during her piano practice!
